Good dual purpose (or basic street bike) motorcycle for taller guy?
I know very little about motorcycles, just that I want a dual sport. But, most bikes I've sat on (never rid one) have been small. Any suggestions for someone over 6 feet tall? Prefer dual, but basic street bike ok. Prefer middle weight, then light.
Got my eyes on a kawasaki klx
Any dual sport bike will favor the long of leg. I assume you are talking about the KLX 250, which should fit you fine. I prefer the DRZ for a street-legal dirt bike. For a lighter bike, you might give the Yamaha WR250R a look. It is relatively expensive, but has received glowing reviews from a couple of riders whose opinions I value highly.
In the 650 class, your main choices are KLR650, DR650 and XR650L. I have ridden them all, and own the KLR, DR and DRZ400. The Suzuki and the Honda are the most dirt-worthy. The Suzuki and the kawasaki are about equally road-worthy. The Kawasaki has more weather protection and room for luggage, but the Suzuki is lighter, better off-road, and a better all-around bike. Either the Suzuki DR650 or the Kawasaki KLR650 makes an excellent beginner bike for someone large enough to manage them physically.
