Hi i need help with 2 more math problems i need help with thanks and plz show work so i can understand?
1. A plastic flying disc is circular and has a circular hole in the middle. If the diameter of the outer edge of the ring is 13 inches and the diameter of the inner edge of the ring is 10 inches, what is the area of plastic in the ring? (use PIE)
2. To harvest cranberries, the field is flooded so that the berries float. The berries are gathered with an inflatable boom. What area of cranberries canb e gathered into a circular region with a radius of 5.5 meters? (use PIE)
thanks if you can help means a lot
pie = food
pi = π
1) Formula of a ring is: A = π(R^2 - r^2). Plug in and solve
R = (13/2), r = (10/2) = 5
A = π((13/2)^2 - 5^2)
A = (69π/4) inches^2
2) A = πr^2
A = π(5.5)^2
A = 30.25π meters^2
Thanks to hayharbr I corrected my stupid mistake where I used diameter instead of radius.
