Kaziranga National Park in Assam – celebrating the centenary of the survival of the unicorn or one-horn rhino, the main attraction of the park, Kaziranga abounds in various other species of wildlife. Some of the top attractions of the park are wild boar, elephants, pythons, leopard, Indian bison, capped langurs, sloth beers, hog deer and tigers. You will also come across a variety of bird species here including white tailed eagle, brahminy kite, oriental honey buzzard, grey-headed fishing eagle, black-shouldered kite and migratory birds. It is also a place to bask in the beauty of thick tropical forests.
Corbett National Park in uttaranchal – extending over 322 sq km, this is one the best protected wildlife sanctuaries of the world. The park serves as a refuge to numerous leopards, tigers, and elephant species. The other wildlife attractions of the park include sambhar, antelopes, fox, jackal and chital. You will also be able to see the exotic reptile species here inclusive of crocodile and fish. Do relish the sight of the bird beauties here. Woodpecker, peafowl, water fowl, cuckoo and red jungle fowl are few of them.
Sundarban National Park in West Bengal – announced as the world heritage site by UNESCO, the Sundarban Park is situated in the southern part of the city of Kolkata. This park covers 54 islands and extends to the neighboring country of Bangladesh. This is a famous site for tigers and mangrove forests. You will be able to spot various species of monkeys, herons, wild pigs, spotted deer, kingfishers and white bellied eagles too.
Periyar National Park in Kerala – nestled in the foothills of the stunning Western Ghats, the Periyar National Park has been announced as a tiger reserve. It is also an ideal place to savor the sight of elephants here. You will also get to see various species of tiger, sambhar, wild pigs, gaur, deer, mouse deer, dole and Indian wild dog here.
2. Things to Do during Wildlife Tours in India
A wildlife tour in India brings you a diverse range of opportunities to explore. Boat rides, hiking, bird watching, horse safari, elephant safari, jeep safari, tiger trail tours, rhino tours, photography and adventure are some of the many options you can try your hand at.
