How can you repair a glow in the dark tshirt where the glow in the dark decal is peeling off?
I tried using tulip glow in the dark paint by brush but the paint base is to thin and watery.IS there a thicker glow in the dark white paint avialable somewhere, or maybe another techinique i can use?
Adding more glow-in-the-dark powder to your paint would be the most obvious and best solution... that powder can be purchased online or perhaps in some of the craft or art supply stores.
You could perhaps use other powders as fillers, but most of them will be opaque or too large a particle size not to make the gitd particles already in the paint less glowy. Some suggestions for those might be:
...microfine polyester "glitter" in a "holographic" or shiny-whitish color (that kind of glitter is a tiny particle size and also reflective so could keep more of the shine?)
...cornstarch
...or try other things and let them dry to see what happens
You could also just use more than one coat of the gitd paint (after each coat dries) which would build up the total thickness of the glow materials.
Do not mix your gitd paint with a *white* paint though because white paints always contain titanium doxiode/etc and are therefore opaque (no light comes through), and that opaqueness would block a lot of your glow.
You could, however, apply a coat of white paint, let dry, then apply your gitd paint since the white background would show up the gitd stuff a bit better (and definitely if your t-shirt wasn't already white).
And btw, using the word "decal" is confusing... you don't seem to be using a decal, just paint. If the paint is peeling off, that would be a separate problem in that it's just not adhering well enough which could happen for several reasons:
...t-shirt was not washed before painting and came with sizing/etc in it which acted as a resist to the paint... or fabric softener was used if the t-shirt was washed, which also acted as a resist
...paint was only laid on the surface of the t-shirt, not worked down into the fibers with the brush or tip of applicator, so paint did not have enough actual fabric to hold onto under the fuzz
...paint was used as large unbroken areas or as lots of thin lines without being it's being a "fabric paint," or without your having added "textile medium" to it to make it into a "fabric paint" (..textile medium added to a regular acrylic paint creates a paint that dries more supple and flexible than plain acrylic paint would so less likely to crack when bent)
...painted t-shirt was washed too soon after painting--takes at least a week for acrylic paints to fully "cure" in addition to simply "drying" (can also be good to wash painted clothing inside-out or in a mesh bag)
