What is your take on this?

There are several people in my family that we visit that will keep the TV on the whole time we are there.
It's on when we arrive until the time we leave.
I'm pretty sure it's not that we are boring because they will have a house full of company and they still do it. For birthday parties and even Christmas.
Do you think they use it as an entertainment tool in case things get too quiet?
I feel this is kind of rude, like we are not "exciting" enough.
What happened to the art of conversation?

I don't even have a telly. I gave it to my uncle. One of the best things I ever did.

I used to be a tv addict. But I don't miss it a bit.
