Obstacle course for dog for assignment?
I have an assignment for school where we have to test the behaviour of an animal, plant or human, and my teacher suggested doing an obstacle course with my dog and perhaps giving her treats to see if she did it faster.
Does anyone who has done this before, (or hasn't, it doesn't matter), have any suggestions on how to go about this experiment, to test a certain behaviour?
Why not have 2 or 3 obstacles and see if your dog can learn to do them in a set order (not just in a straight line) some thing like through a gate, over a small jump, finish lying on a mat. Where you only give one start command and the dog has to do the rest unaided.
You'd have to teach each separately then chain them together and then let her do them all on her own in sequence.
I'd probably use a clicker training type technique for this.
Sounds like fun, I might just give it a go with my own dogs!!!
