Has your child ever been in the hospital?
Besides their birth, has your baby ever been hospitilzed?
My 5 month old daughter was just discharged from the hospital today. She was in respiritory distress and she needed an oxygen tent and frequent breathing treatments.
They also had to insert the IV into her forhead because it was the best vein they could find (she's really chunky). And they had to shave some of her hair to do it. They had her head wrapped up and it looked like a turban. But anyways...she's doing better now. I was just wondering if your child has ever been in the emergency room and why.

My daughter is 2.5 now and has been in hospital twice. The first time she was 6 months old, it was for surgery on a congenital hip defect that I (guilt-ridden mom) passed on to her. She had to be put in a body cast for three months, it was awful, she still has small round scars on her back because she grew so much in that time. Turns out they'll have to do it again, too. It will be worse this time, because she's so active, and yet too young to really understand.
The second time was because she broke into the childproofed medicine cabinet, and the childproof lid on a tylenol bottle. She came running into the other room where I was feeding the baby with a handful of "candy mommy!" That was scary, and canadian hospitals make you wait for hours in emerg. Turns out she didn't ingest any, but wow, did I feel like a bad mother!
Now she says "no taking medicine, no more needle!" (she needed an IV and they kept it in to retest her blood at different hourly intervals)
Not the way you want your kid to learn, but she can break into any childproofing we have ever bought or devised! Makes it tough.
