How can I stop my puppies from destroying my dad's growing mahogany trees?
My dad isn't hitting them or anything, but I know how much he cares for the plants and I don't want the puppies to destroy them anymore. What can I do to prevent it? They are free around the yard, and my mom doesn't seem to be in favor of buying toys. Any suggestions? The puppies are about... four months old. They're mutts. They're mom died in a car accident, so we gave them 'milk replacement' until they were three months. They seem healthy even after we stopped their and they've already had their vaccinations. They also like to eat the sand-and-fertilizer in the mahogany bags. Is it possible that they'd get sick from this?
Also, please, do NOT suggest beer.
The trees are still really young, probably just two feet tall. And right now we can't afford to put up a fence, and putting them on a leash isn't an option. How can I train them to understand that destroying plants is wrong?
Try spraying bitter apple on the trees it wont hurt the trees but the puppies wont like the taste at all! Go to the dollar store and purchase a few dollar toys and put peanut butter on them then the dogs will have an alternative to what they are chewing on.
